Great headphones, adequate ear bud replacements

I love the EC2 headphones, which depend on a tight seal in the ear. My original foam ear buds seemed to dry out and lose the ability to reform to fit my ear. These replacements go onto the headphones easily, and create the needed seal. They feel a little dry, which makes me wonder if they were manufactured a long time ago and stored, but they work fine, and at the price, I'll be happy to buy replacement packs every year or so as needed.

These don't work

I purchased these as replacements for the foam covers that came with my Shure E2c. First of all, there is no way to tell which size you need, since there is nothing to tell you whether the original set was small, medium or large.Still, I thought if I compress the foam enough, any size will probably work.Guess again. The core of these foams, which fits over the plastic rod on the earbud, is too big. Regardless of how the foams fit in your ears, they will not stay attached to your earbud.The item isn't expensive enough to bother returning, and I suppose I'll have to take a chance on the medium-sized replacement foams now. Very frustrating and very poor customer service on Shure's part.

Very short life

These foams are really good both in terms of providing music quality and comfort for your ears, but they don't last long! First of all, they get dirty very quickly, just from being handled (and from your ear canal, no matter now clean it is). I had read somewhere that you can wash them, so I did, but that washed off the coating which gives them shape memory (allows them to stay squeezed when you're inserting them in your ear and expand afterwards). After the washing they'd just expand right after being squeezed, like regular foam does, and hence it was impossible to insert them into my ears anymore. Even if you don't wash them and put up with the dirty look, that coating wears off after a couple of weeks just from handling, which pretty much kills the ear bud.Avoid the frustration and get triple flange sleeves instead. Nothing of the sort can happen to those, plus, you can wash them as much as you want.

Great fit for small ears!

As a woman, I needed smaller earphones than the standard ones which come with the ipod nano, so I bought the Shure E2c earphones and additional replacement foams for the ear buds. These were the right size for me, are comfortable, and stay in my ears, even when I am working out or running. The earphones and replacement buds were a great investment for me and were well worth the money.

The Black Rubber is Better

For about a year I used these foam plugs. One day I started to experiment with the other types that came with the ear-plugs. The black ones are they perfect ones for me. They fit better, never wear out, and don't look so dirty all the time. Most importantly, they give a perfect seal.

Triple Flange are better

I bought these before finding the triple flange. These don't fit as well, don't sound isolate as well, and put the hard part of the headphone in your ear which is not as comfortable as the triple flange which only puts soft stuff in your ear.

Comfortable and secure

These are my favorite of all the rubber sleeves I've ever used on my assorted collection of ear canal headsets. They are a bit sticky so once you get them in there they stay in really well; can easily be removed and replaced (unlike the foam ones which are admittedly more comfortable). Here's my trick, on an airplane I put a rubber sleeve on one side and foam on the other ear. The foam one stays in there for the duration, if a stewardess or somebody comes up to me I pop the rubber one out so I can hear and respond (talk about good sound isolation!) and then I pop it back in. Eventually these will get slippery and lose their sticking power; then its time to buy these replacements :)
